Rain likely to mar Christmas festive mood in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With the preparations have already begun for the Christmas celebrations worldwide, the rain is likely to spoil the festive mood in some parts of Odisha from December 25.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the feeble trough of low at mean sea level over equatorial Indian ocean & adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast persists.

Under influence of it, several places in northern, southern and coastal regions of Odisha may witness light to moderate rain from December 25 to 27, Bhubaneswar MeT said in a release.

The moderate rainfall is on the cards for northern and western parts of the state from December 25 and 26. During these two days, the places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur and Cuttack districts are likely to experience moderate rainfall.

There may be light rainfall in the districts including Kandhamal, Koraput, Gajapati and Malkangiri between December 26 and 27.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has also predicted light rainfall in one or two places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts on Christmas Day.
