Rain likely to spoil New Year celebration in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After playing spoilsport in Dussehra and Diwali festivities in Odisha this year, rain might dampen New Year celebrations also as Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu has predicted rainfall in coastal parts of the state between December 30 and January 1.

According to the Meteorological Centre sources, a low pressure area has formed over south Andaman sea and adjoining Bay of Bengal. It might result in showers over coastal districts from the night of December 30 till January 1.

However, specific movement and effect of the system will become clear within a couple of days, Sahu said, adding that there are chances of rain in some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Puri and Khordha during the period.
