Rain may bring respite from heat wave in Odisha from April 20

Bhubaneswar: While Odisha has been reeling under heat wave conditions, rainfall may provide much-needed relief from the extreme weather in some parts of the state from April 20.

As per the prediction of the Regional Meteorological Centre here, light rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam on April 20.

Similarly, light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj on April 21.

Likewise, light to moderate rain/ thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, and Balasore on April 22.

Regarding the prevailing heat wave conditions, the Meteorological Centre said, “Due to prevailing northwesterly/ westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is very likely to rise by 2°C to 4°C at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 3 days. Consequently, maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C or above at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during next 4 to 5 days.”
