Rain soaks Bhubaneswar; dense fog to cover Odisha after Feb 9

Bhubaneswar: As the rain was in the forecast for coastal and interior parts of Odisha, the residents of Bhubaneswar woke up to a rainy weather in the morning today, a day after witnessing fog.

The light rain soaked many parts of the city dropping the day temperature.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north Odisha and South coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South interior Odisha between today and tomorrow. Thunderstorm accompanied with lighting and gusty surface winds, speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Boudh, and also Heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Ganjam.

Also, yellow warning has been issued for next two days for some parts of the state.

As per the weather bulletin, the thunderstorm accompanied with hail and lightning very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal on Feb 7 and 8.

Similarly, Thunderstorm accompanied with lighting and gusty surface winds, speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on Feb 8 and 9.

Thereafter, the dense fog likely to envelop the districts including Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Balangir and Angul on Feb 9 night and next day. The places in districts like Angul, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Dhenkanal may be covered with a thick blanket of dense fog on Feb 11.

However, there will be no change in minimum temperature during next 2-3 days. The night temperature may gradually fall by 3-5 degree Celsius thereafter across the state.
