Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in some parts of western and coastal Odisha on Tuesday evening under the influence of a cyclonic ring formed over Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Rain lashed Hirakud, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul, Talcher, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Chandbali, Baleswar, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Mahishapat in Dhenkanal district recorded highest rainfall with 66 mm. Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur recorded 15 mm each, Angul and Hirakud 18 mm each, while Jharsuguda and Talcher received 10 mm and 9 mm rainfall respectively.

The Met office has predicted thunder squall, accompanied with hail and surface wind speed reaching 70-80 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Phulbani, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda, Gajpati, Puri, Raygada, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Boudh, Jagatsingpur and Jajpur of Odisha during the next 24 hours.
