Rains to continue across Odisha for another 24 hours

Bhubaneswar, Sept 1:

Rain/thundershowers will continue across Odisha over the next 24 hours, the local Met Centre said in its afternoon bulletin today.

It also warned of heavy rainfall at one or two places in North Odisha and prevalence of gusty surface wind reaching a speed of 45 to 50 kmph,gusting to 60 kmph along and off Odisha Coast during this period.

Fishermen have been advised against venturing into sea.

The bulletin informed that yesterday’s Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Vidarbha and adjoining areas of South Chattisgarh and Telengana now lies as a Low Pressure Area over Central Parts of South Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha.

Bhubaneswar gets highest rainfall this season

Rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours was the highest at Puri (144 mm) while the capital city recorded 110 mm rain fall, the highest this season. Tihidi ( 98mm), Baleswar (66) ad Chandbali (55mm) in north Odisha also received heavy rainfall.

Another Low Pressure on its way

According to agro-meteorologist Dr Surendranath Pasupalak of the OUAT, a cyclonic circulation, likely to be formed off the Odisha coast on September 3, would take the shape of a Low Pressure by September 5 and under its influence, most parts of the state would receive rainfall for about a week.
