A Met office bulletin released this evening said that the well marked low pressure area over west central Bay of Bengal converted into a low pressure and lay centred over west central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha at 8.30 am today.

Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over north Odisha and in many places in south Odisha in the next 48 hours, said Sarat Sahu, director of IMD, Bhubaneswar.

In another warning, the met office said dense fog which would reduce surface visibility to less than 200 metre may occur at some places over interior Odisha during the next 24 hours.

The release also warned the fishermen not to venture into the sea as strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph would prevail along and off the Odisha coast during the period.

Meanwhile, rainfall recorded in the state since last 32 hours till 5.30 PM today was highest in Paradip (80.7 mm), Chandbali (48.8), Gopalpur (21.8), Daringbadi (31), Puri (10.7), Cuttack (11), Bhubaneswar (8.9), Keonjhar (8.3), Koraput (7.6) and Baleswar (7.4).
