Rains to continue pounding Odisha in next 24 hours

Rain or thundershower would occur at most places over interior Odisha and a few places over coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours while one or two places in interior Odisha would experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during the period, the Met department said this afternoon.

Gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65kmph may prevail along and off Odisha Coast, it said.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea.

The deep depression over Jharkhand and neighbourhood has moved Westwards and lay centered over North Chhattisgarh, adjoining Jharkhand and East Madhya Pradesh near Lat. 22.2⁰ N and Long. 83.5⁰ E about 100 kms East-Southeast of Ambikapur at 0830 hours IST today, the Met centre said in its bulletin.

It is likely to move in the West-Northwest direction during the next 24 hours and weaken gradually thereafter, the bulletin said.
