Rains on the cards for Odisha as cyclonic circulation forms over Bay; low pressure next week

Bhubaneswar: More downpour is likely in Odisha in coming days as a cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal today.

“A cyclonic circulation formed over south-east and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal today. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal around September 20,” the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD informed today.

The weathermen have issued yellow warning of thunderstorm and heavy rainfall for several districts of Odisha today and for next 3 days.

As per the prediction, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal today.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri and Jagatsinghpur from September 18 to 19.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara between September 19 and 20.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul and Sonepur between Sepetember 20 and 21. Also, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Rayagada and Nuapada during the period.
