The water level was recorded above 12 lakh Cusecs near Mundali yesterday night.

According to an official source, water level of Hirakud Dam reservoir was 626.56 feet at 6 am. Inflow of rainwater to the reservoir was 6,24,254 Cusecs while the outflow was recorded at 6,81,431 Cusecs.

Rainwater released yesterday is expected to reach Mundali by Thursday morning and water level would recede by that time at the barrage. Hence, it would not pose any flood threat. If low pressure-induced rain will lash again then things may go out of control, the official source added.

Nine ODRAF teams have been put on alert in seven districts and nine NDRF teams in six districts along with 44 teams of fire services personnel to face any eventuality in the days ahead.
