Indian ParliamentSoon after the house reassembled at 2 p.m. after two adjournments, Congress members trooped into the well shouting slogans against the Narendra Modi government.

Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien, however, tried to run the house but failed. He repeatedly requested the Congress members to go back to their seats and allow the house to function but Congress members continued with their protest.

“Go back to your seats. No use in shouting slogans. Parliament is for discussion. This is indiscipline. Due to unruly behaviour of some of the members I am forced to adjourn the house,” Kurien remarked.

He then adjourned the house for the day.

Earlier, when the house reassembled at 12 noon after the first adjournment, Congress members trooped near Chairman Hamid Ansari’s podium shouting slogans. Amid noisy scenes, Ansari adjourned the house within a minute till 2 p.m.
