The student’s wing of Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today took out a cycle rally to commemorate the exploratory cycle tour of the legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik from Cuttack to Peshawar.
The Chhatra BJD embarked on the cycle rally named ‘Biju Patnaik Smaraki Cycle Yatra’ from Master Canteen area to its party headquarters here as on this day the leader cycled all the way to Peshawar in 1932.

Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Priyadarshi Mishra and BJD student’s wing president Rana Pratap Patra were among the participants who took part in the cycle rally.
It may be recalled that the then 16-year-old cycled all the way from Cuttack to Peshawar, now in Pakistan, on a ‘Visit India Mission’ while he was a student in Ravenshaw College. He along with two of his friends Amar and Bhramarbar Sahu toured a distance of 4500 miles.
