Ram Lalla consecration: Odisha BJP demands ‘public holiday’ on January 22

Bhubaneswar: BJP state unit today urged the Odisha Government to declare January 22 as a ‘public holiday’, given the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra wrote to the Chief Minister in this regard.

Pran Pratistha – the consecration of Lord Sri Ram along with the inauguration of new grand Ram Mandir is scheduled to be held on January 22, 2024 by the Prime Minister of India. On this auspicious occasion relating to the great God of Hinduism, the whole nation is taking part in the grand ceremony.

“This occasion is also a matter of great joy and happiness for the people of Odisha,” the LoP Mishra said.

“Kindly declare 22nd January 2024 as a public holiday so that all the devotees of Lord Sri Ram will be able to be a part of the ceremony,” the senior BJP leader requested CM Naveen Patnaik.

Worth mentioning, the Government has announced January 17 as a public holiday to facilitate people’s participation in the inauguration of Jagannath temple heritage corridor project in Puri.

All government offices and educational institutions including schools and colleges will remain closed on January 17 (Wednesday), said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in an earlier statement.

Several dignitaries including the CM will attend the inauguration of Srimandir heritage corridor project.
