Ramzan begins, Muslims in Odisha to fast from March 12: Cuttack Chand Committee

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Muslims in Odisha will fast from dawn to sunset beginning tomorrow (Tuesday) as the Ramzan crescent (new moon) was sighted at some places in the country today evening.

Anjuman Islamia Ahle Sunnat-O-Jamaat office of the Chand Committee in Cuttack confirmed the sighting of the Ramzan crescent.

“Ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan, is the holiest month for Muslims, who fast during the day, recite the Koran, and attend prayer sessions,” the committee president Mohammed Ahad said.

“Healthy persons except sick and elderly ones will observe a month-long Roja. I extend Mubarak (hearty wishes) to all on this occasion,” the committee president expressed.
