Ranji Trophy: Haryana take 384 lead against Odisha

A double century by R Dewan and two whirlwind centuries by S Rana and N Saini helped Haryana take a massive 384-run first innings lead against Odisha on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Group-A match at the East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECORSA) stadium here on Wednesday.

Resuming at their overnight score at 294 for 2, the visitors continued their onslaught on Odisha bowlers to put up a 600 plus score.

Dewan, who was not out at 136 on Tuesday, went on to score 273 while S Rana took up his overnight score of 83 to 157. The duo put up a record 311-run partnership for the third wicket.

After Rana’s departure with the score at 464, N Saini joined Dewan and the duo took up the score to 614 before Dewan was dismissed by skipper Biplab Samantray.

The visitors declared their innings at 626 for 4 with Saini remaining not out on 102.

For Odisha, Niranjan Behera got two wickets while Biplab Samantray and J Behera claimed one wicket each.

The hosts were 33 without loss at close of play with Gobind Poddar and Girija Rout batting on 14 and 19 runs respectively.
