Ranji Trophy: Odisha registers mammoth victory over Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Powered by Rajesh Mohanty’s splendid bowling performance, Odisha defeated Chhattisgarh by a huge margin of an innings and 3 runs in a group stage match of Ranji Trophy at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium here, today.

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Odisha restricted Chhattisgarh to mere 134 runs in the first innings, thanks to Rajesh Mohanty’s six-wicket haul. In reply, Odisha posted 215 runs on the board with wicketkeeper batsman Sujit Lenka being the highest scorer with 56 runs.

Odisha got a significant lead of 81 runs while Chhattisgarh were bundled out for 78 runs in the second innings. Rajesh Mohanty and Suryakant Pradhan picked up four wickets each for Odisha.

With the win, Odisha topped the Elite Group C with eight more matches to go.
