Odisha boy Raj Kishore Mohanty has achieved the rare feat of collecting 100 ten-rupee currency notes that have the same serial number: 000687.  The same serial number comes up only once in 10 lakh notes.

Mohanty had to take help of coin collector friends in 18 states to have this collection. He started his mission back in September 2013 and acquired 100 such notes in 14 months.

He has also collected 99 five-rupee notes with the serial number 999990. It may be noted that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released only 147 such notes.

His collection also includes nine ten-rupee notes with unique serial numbers such as 111111 till 999999 and 10 ten-rupee notes with serial numbers from 100000 till 1000000. All these notes belong to the reign of D. Subbarao as RBI Governor.

It may be noted that he earlier got himself an entry in the Limca Book of Records by collecting 100 ten-rupee notes that resembled dates on which Sachin Tendulkar scored a century.

His fascination with unique numbers started after his father blasted him for his inability to get a preferred number from RTO for their newly bought car.

So far, his passion to collect these notes have brought him six national and international award,s including a mention in Limca Book of Records.
