Puri: The Chaka Dera Anukula ritual for the annual Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings was today held on Bada Danda in Odisha's Puri town. This ritual, held on the occasion of Bhaunri festival, involves attachment of wheels to the chariot axles.
The ritual began with the arrival of the Agyan Mala (garlands signifying the consent of Lord Jagannath and His siblings) at the Ratha Khala.
Puja panda servitors carried out the rituals, which started with the chariot Taladhwaja, followed by Nandighosa and Darpadalana chariots.
The next step is fixing of wheels to the axles of the chariots. It will be conducted by Maharana and Bhoi servitors.
Around 200 carpenters are involved in the construction of these chariots.
