Ratha Jatra: Devotees throng Gundicha Temple for Adapa darshan

Puri: Devotees thronged the Gundicha Temple in Odisha’s pilgrim city this morning to have Adapa darshan of deities during Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath.

After morning rituals of deities, the devotees entered into the shrine in a long queue for darshan of Lords on Janma Bedi or Adapa Mandap.

The free darshan commenced from 7.00 am till 8.30 am. Later, the devotees can see the deities inside the Bhitarkatha with parimanik ticket. The general darshan for the devotees is being made from Baharkatha of the Gundicha Temple.

Meanwhile, the Adapa Abadha will be available from today at Ananda Bazaar of the Gundicha Temple. The Adapa Abadha is prepared by servitors in kitchan of Gundicha Temple during Ratha Jatra and the devotees used to wait for this divine Abadha since a year.

There is a belief that one gets virtues of deeds of crores of birth after having darshan of Chaturdha Murti (Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Sudarshan) on Adapa Mandap, which is the birthplace of the deities, during 9-day sojourn.

During the Ratha Jatra, the Lords move to their birthplace once in a year leaving their abode Srimandir for 9 days and give darshan to their devotees on Adapa Mandap in Gundicha Temple.

The influx of devotees will continue to the temple till Bahuda Jatra. Later, the crowd will be again shifted in front of the Singha Dwara of Srimandir till Niladri Bije of deities following Suna Besha and Adharapana rituals on chariots.
