Ratha Jatra: Three-day curfew in Puri from July 11

Puri: To check spread of COVID-19 and restrict movement of public during Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, a three-day curfew will be enforced in entire pilgrim town from July 11, a night before the religious event.

The curfew will be in force with effect from 8.00 pm of July 11 till 8.00 am of July 13, 2021.

As per the order by the district administration, section 144 will be clamped in Puri town during the period. All the entry points to Puri town will be sealed.

The restrictions may be further extended in the town, informed Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahoo.

Meanwhile, police officials, who are not on duty of Ratha Jatra, will not be allowed to visit Puri till July 24.

As per the order by the DGP, no other employees or police officials other than on-duty cops will be permitted to enter Puri town during the above mentioned period.

In case of government related work, the police officials may be allowed to Puri with permission of the ADG (Law and order) from the police headquarters.
