Ravenshaw University reports 3 new COVID-19 cases

Cuttack: A day after two hostel inmates of Ravenshaw University here were found COVID-19 positive, three more from the varsity have contracted the virus.

Two lecturers and a student staying in hostel have tested positive for the virus, confirmed PG Council Chairman Smrutiprabha Das. With this, the university has reported five positive cases recently.

More than 300 swab samples were collected from the university and sent for testing today. Yesterday, 92 samples were collected, informed Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Ananya Das.

A meeting will be held later in the day regarding closure of the varsity.

Following detection of the cases,  the university authorities yesterday postponed the UG and PG examinations, which were scheduled to begin on March 25.
