Ravenshaw University ups safety measures for hostel inmates

Cuttack: Two days after a visually-impaired PhD student of Ravenshaw University died after falling from hostel building, the university authorities today decided to take up a slew of measure for the security of the students.

At a meeting held at the varsity today, the authorities decided to set up a special panel for differently-abled students. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed in all hostels while lift system will be introduced in the hostels for the disabled.

Moreover, differently-abled students will be lodged on ground floor of the hostels and doors of hostel rooftops will remain close. Besides, all hostel inmates will be strictly asked to sign on register while going outside.

It may be mentioned here that Kusadhar Bag, a PhD scholar of political science department of the university, had died after falling from the New Hostel building on September 27.

Bag, who was partially blind, was a native of Balangir district.
