Bhubaneswar, Mar 26:

Students of Rama Devi (RD) Women’s University in the Odisha capital today demanded Crime Branch probe into the incident of posting of pictures of fellow students with objectionable remarks on social networking site Facebook by one Aarohi Creations.

Students holding placards staged a demonstration and sought the intervention of the Chief Minister in the matter.

“More than 24 hours have elapsed since we had filed our complaint with the police. We are yet to get one percent action from the police. Even the person who has been named in the FIR has not been interrogated. For that reason we are demanding a probe by the Crime Branch,” said one of the complainants.

Police have recorded statements of some students under section 161 of the CrPC while making efforts to nab Sahu.

“As it appears Sahu used to organize various contests. Already group was existing. This has taken place with the involvement of several groups on the social networking site. Whether it’s a fake or a genuine account it will be known after investigations are over,” said DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.

Notably, a few days back under the garb of conducting a display picture completion among the students, one Sujit Sahu of Aarohi Creations had visited the varsity.

Later, after a few days of Sahu’s visit to the varsity campus pictures of several students were seen posted on social networking site Facebook with objectionable comments against them.

Photos of over 100 girls of the varsity were posted on the Facebook page with objectionable caption “sex contest”.

Shocked to find their photographs on Facebook with objectionable comments the students had filed an FIR at the Saheed Nagar police station.
