RD Women’s University to open PhD programme this academic session

Bhubaneswar: The Rama Devi Women’s University, the first women’s varsity in Odisha, is planning to open doctoral programme for the students in the academic session 2020-21, informed the varsity authorities on the occasion of Foundation Day Celebration yesterday.

The varsity will introduce the PhD programme in 11 subjects. However, the decision is yet to be taken on the cap on students’ strength in each department.

The authorities said that the decision on number of seats for students will be taken in view of professors’ count currently available in departments.

Besides, the university has decided to open Education (Hons) for the first time in Plus III degree course.

Meanwhile, the varsity has appointed two faculty members for the Master of Journalism & Mass Communication (MJMC). The admission into the course will take place in this academic session.

In the first phase, the admission into the MJMC course will be held in 32 seats at the Rama Devi Women’s University.

The process to fill 64 Assistant Professor posts lying vacant in the university has already begun. Also, the new infrastructure including five buildings approximately at cost of Rs 55 crore under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) will be functional soon, the varsity authorities said.
