Odisha government’s Technical Advisor Sam Pitroda broke his silence on criticism by state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over WannaCry ransomware that continues to affect computers across the globe.
Reacting to Odisha BJP on his absence during WannaCry attack in the State, Pitroda suggested the saffron party to read his autobiography ‘Dreaming Big: My Journey to Connect India’ instead of questioning his capability.

In a counter attack, India’s telecom inventor and policy maker Pitroda took to microblogging site Twitter to give a befitting reply in a series of tweets.
He said that domain experts are required to address the WannaCry attack and cyber security related issues.
Regarding #WannaCry I have little to add. Cyber Security related issues are serious matters world over and need domain experts.

Hitting out at the saffron party over its comments, he said that he did not need advice from any political party for his work and responsibilities.

He clarified that he joined as the Technical Advisor to Odisha government because of his love for and respect for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his birth place Odisha.

The tweets came two days after BJP criticised Pitroda and questioned his appointment as the Technical Advisor to Odisha government amidst WannaCry ransomware attack reported at various places in Odisha.
The party sought his dismissal from the post questioning his whereabouts during such critical hour.
Few days ago, the BJP had staged protest demanding removal of Pitroda from his post as the Technical Advisor for his alleged involvement in National Herald scam.
