Real estate firm director held for land fraud in Odisha

Cuttack: A real estate firm’s director has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a person on pretext of providing a land in Patia area in Bhubaneswar.

The Bidanasi Police arrested Pankajini Jena, the Director of Sarala Realcon Pvt Ltd, for duping one buyer of Rs 30 lakh.

According to reports, Pankajini had taken Rs 30 lakh from the victim Santosh Kumar Sahoo of Bidanasi area in Cuttack to provide him a land in Patia locality in Bhubaneswar.

The Bidanasi Police initiated a probe into the matter after registering a case against the accused March 19.

Earlier, Pankajini’s husband Gayadhar Jena, who is the MD of the Sarala Realcon, was arrested by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW)  of the Crime Branch on charges of duping buyers of around Rs 50 crore in 2015. The Saheed Nagar Police had arrested him on similar charges in 2013.
