Record single-day spike in Odisha’s COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 22,000-mark

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to report record spike in COVID-19  cases as  1594 more persons tested positive for the deadly virus in last 24 hours. With the new cases, the state’s tally surged to 22,693 . 

While 1067 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 527 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 28  districts: highest from Ganjam: 732 followed by Khordha (320) and Cuttack (136), Angul: 10, Balasore: 22, Bargarh: 8, Bhadrak: 60, Balangir: 6, Boudh: 41, Dhenkanal: 2, Gajapati: 3, Jagatsinghpur: 3, Jajpur: 5, Jharsuguda: 8, Kalahandi: 1, Kandhamal: 17, Kendrapada: 9, Keonjhar: 20, Koraput: 33, Malkangiri: 9, Mayurbhanj: 32, Nabarangpur: 3, Nayagarh: 10, Nuapada: 1, Puri: 30, Sambalpur: 13, Sonepur: 4 and Sundargarh: 56.

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 8148. However, 14,392 patients have recovered in the state so far.
In the last 24 hours,  11,647 swab sample were tested. So far 43,3578 tests have been conducted in the state.
