Recruitment firm owner arrested for job fraud in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police arrested a recruitment firm owner for allegedly duping job seekers here in the city.

The accused has been identified Nikhil Alwi, a resident of Thane area in Maharashtra.

According to reports, Nikhil and his associates were running a recruitment firm near Ekamra Park under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar.

He was allegedly duping unemployed youth on pretext of providing jobs overseas.

Reports said that the firm owned by Nikhil defrauded 10 young men and women of Rs 5 lakh promising them of jobs in Dubai following a training in Kolkata.

Based on a complaint, the Nayapalli police lodged registered a case and initiated a probe to nab the fraudsters.

As per the preliminary investigation, the firm has duped more than 20 unemployed youth of over Rs 10 lakh, said investigating official Rabi Patra.

During course of investigation, police apprehended the firm owner on charges of job fraud. Another accused Biswajit Mohanty from Bargarh district allegedly involved in the case absconded following arrest of his associate.
