Red Warning! Heavy to very heavy rain to lash these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: With depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha –West Bengal coasts intensified into deep depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Red Warning for south interior Odisha districts.

As per the latest bulletin issued by the IMD regional centre here, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places over districts of south interior Odisha and Gajapati, Ganjam and Sonepur, with extremely heavy rain at isolated places in districts like Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Nuapada and Boudh till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

Besides, the weathermen also gave Orange Warning indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall for districts like Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Angul while the rest districts have been issued Yellow Warning till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

This apart, the MeT centre has also issued Yellow Warning for Bargarh, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir amd Sundergarh districts from 8.30 AM tomorrow till 8.30 AM on Aug 9, said weather scientist Shashi Kant.

The weathermen further said that squally wind with speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is very likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast during next 12 hours and 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph thereafter for subsequent 12 hours.

Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised  not to venture into sea during next 24 hours.
