Relief from heat wave in Odisha likely as thunderstorm to lash these districts

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm from today, which may provide much-needed respite from intense heat wave conditions in the state.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted that there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during the next 24 hours and it will decrease by 2-3°C thereafter during the next 3 days over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 24 hours and it is likely to be above normal by 2 to 3°C over the districts of interior Odisha thereafter.

Below is day-wise forecast in connection with the predicted thunderstorm across Odisha:

May 1: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Ganjam.

May 2: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nayagarh.

May 3: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati.

May 4: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput.
