Religious institutions to reopen in Odisha capital from January 3

Bhubaneswar: Except Lingaraj Temple, all religious institutions in Odisha capital will reopen from January 3, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today.

The religious institutions will be reopened with strict observance of COVID -19 safety protocols.  The local committees of all the religious institutions shall ensure strict observance of COVID-19 safety protocols such as wearing of masks, social distancing of six feet, and hand washing, the BMC said.

The committees will submit an undertaking/declaration to BMC regarding date of opening of their religious places and maximum number of devotees to remain present/accommodated at one point of time. Based on the undertaking, the BMC will issue an order regarding the maximum ceiling of number of devotees to be congregated at one point of time.

Churches in the city will be allowed to open on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas.

Those with SARI/ILI like symptoms shall not be allowed to enter the religious institutions. Other vulnerable group of people such as persons with co-morbidities, elderly persons, pregnant women or children below 10 years of age are advised not to visit the religious institutions, the BMC added.
