Religious places, malls in Odisha to remain closed till June 30

Bhubaneswar: Hours after the Centre gave its nod for opening of 820 ASI monuments with places of worship from June 8, the Odisha government today said all religious places and places of worship in the State will remain closed till June 30, 2020.

This apart, all shopping malls will continue to remain closed till June 30, 2020.

The State government, however, allowed restaurants and hotels for home delivery. Also, takeaway of food including home delivery of food by aggregators such as Zomato and Swiggy etc is permitted.

The government directed officials to implement the order strictly in the interest of public health.

Worth mentioning, the Odisha government had earlier extended the lockdown till midnight of June 30 after an assessment of the situation emerged out of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Culture Ministry earlier in the day gave its nod to as many as 820 ASI monuments with places of worship including 46 religious places in Odisha to open tomorrow to visitors and devotees.
