This apart, the court also directed the temple administration to take immediate steps to clear the encroachments around the temple.

Expressing grave concern over the security threat to the temple, the court asked the SJTA and the district administration to clear all encroachments within 10 feet of the four entrance gates of the temple.

The court also directed the SJTA to vacate the Pratihari Nijog Office located near the Singhadwar (main entrance gate) of the temple within 14 days.

The assurance came after the court sought a definite reply from the ASI in response to several complaints from various quarters.

The chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhee had visited New Delhi, to apprise the director general of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), of the tardy progress in the repair work and urged his early intervention in the matter.
