Cuttack: The repairing work of Jagamohan and Nata Mandap of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha's Puri has been completed, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) told the Orissa High Court today.

The court asked the ASI to submit an affidavit regarding the completion of the work.

In a related development, the High Court asked the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to provide a copy of Ratna Bhandar reopening-related affidavit to the petitioner. The SJTA had submitted the affidavit on December 23, last year.

"We had prayed before the court for reopening of the Ratna Bhandar of the temple and inventory of the valuables kept inside it. The SJTA has already filed an affidavit in this regard. However, we are yet to get its copy. The court directed the SJTA to provide us the copy of the affidavit," said Alok Kumar Mohapatra, the petitioner's lawyer.

The next hearing of the petition will be held on August 1.

Notably, BJP leader Samir Mohanty has also filed a petition seeking judicial intervention for opening of the Ratna Bhandar. Mohanty filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the High Court seeking direction for inventory of all the valuables inside the Ratna Bhandar and repair work of the treasury.

He also sought directive for constitution of a high-power committee under the chairmanship of the Governor of Odisha or a sitting judge of the Orissa High Court to supervise preparation of the inventory.

Mohanty further sought a probe by the CBI into the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar.
