Bhubaneswar: A snake rescuer died after he was reportedly bitten by a cobra at a police station in Odisha’s Sonepur district today.
The incident reportedly took place at Birmaharajpur police station in Sonepur. The deceased has been identified as Goura Kumbhar of Mendhamala village.
Kumbhar had rescued the venomous snake from the house of a villager at Champamala under Birmaharajpur police limits and kept in a plastic jar.
Soon after the rescuing the cobra, Kumbhar visited the police station for some work.
The snake reportedly bit Kumbhar while he was displaying it in front of the cops at the police station.
The rescuer was immediately rushed to Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors at the DHH.
