Dhenkanal/Bhawanipatna: Days after a minor girl student delivered a baby in Kandhamal district, two similar incidents have been reported from Dhenkanal and Kalahandi districts of Odisha.
Headmaster of a residential school in Sadar block of Dhenkanal district has lodged a complaint at the Sadar police station alleging that a class-VIII girl student of the school was found pregnant.
The girl had gone to her relative's house during vacation. After she returned to the hostel, her health condition deteriorated. She was admitted to a local hospital, where it was found during medical examination that she has been impregnated.
Police have started investigation into the incident on the basis of the complaint.
In another incident, a class-VIII girl student of a residential school in Narla area of Kalahandi district had reportedly taken abortion pills after being pregnant for 8 weeks. After her condition worsened, she was admitted to the district headquarters hospital on January 14 and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla on January 16.
The girl, a native of Sheikhpura in Bihar, was discharged from the hospital this morning and she left for her native place with her parents.
Till the filing of this report, no police complaint was lodged in this regard.
