Resort owner among two held over illegal rave party in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested the owner of a resort and one of its employees in connection with an illegal rave party in Chandaka area of the capital city here.

Accused Shiva Prasad Pattnaik (53), the owner of Happy Moments Resort, and Rahul Mallick (30), the cook of the resort, were produced in a local court, police said.

A rave party was being organised at Happy Moments Resort in Chhatabar area under Chandaka police limits in the wee hours of today. On a tip-off, a patrolling party of Chandaka police raided the resort and found that it did not have the valid licence to serve liquor and hold late night rave party, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone-6) Ramesh Bisoyi.

The owner of the resort and one of its employees were detained by the police. The police also seized 20 litres of foreign liquor from the resort. However, the revellers of the party managed to escape, Bisoyi added.

The Commissionerate Police, meanwhile, urged the residents of the capital city to share any information on extortion, illegal drugs trade, snatching and thefts through its helpline no. 7077798111. “We will take quick action after receiving the information on our helpline number. The identity of the informer would be kept secret,” said a police officer.
