Puri, Jul 9:

Breaching the restrictions imposed by the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), a woman devotee was seen climbing Nandighosha, Lord Jagannath's chariot, in Odisha’s holy town Puri on Friday evening.

The lady reportedly climbed on the chariot with the help of some servitors before pahandi of the deities to Aadapa Mandap inside the Gundicha Temple.

"We will examine the CCTV footage and the temple administration will take necessary action if any one is found guilty," said Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi.

"The devotee who climbed on the chariot was daughter of a servitor. We will have further discussion on the matter after examining the CCTV footage," said SJTA public relation officer Laxmidhara Pujapanda.

"The video recording of the incident will be examined. A servitor's daughter had climbed on the chariot possibly due to ignorance. The matter will be looked into," said SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.

Worth mentioning, though the temple administration had this year allowed devotees to touch the chariots, it imposed restrictions over climbing on it and touching the deities.
