Result row: Odisha HC files contempt of court case against CBSE official

Cuttack: In a big jolt to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Orissa High Court today filed a suo motu contempt of court case against the board’s Joint Secretary (Academics), Manoj Kumar Srivastav in connection with the alleged discrepancies in the publication of Class-XII exam results in Bhubaneswar zone.

The High Court has directed the official to reply by July 3.

The court has also asked the CBSE to deposit answer sheets of 18 students who had moved the court seeking re-evaluation and it had directed the board to conduct re-evaluation of these answer sheets as well.

However, marks of some of the students had decreased after the re-evaluation.

Notably, results of many students in Bhubaneswar zone of the board were kept withheld. Similarly, many students had complained of faulty evaluation leading to their poor marks.
