Result row: Odisha HC rejects CBSE’s appeal against re-evaluation

Cuttack: In yet another jolt to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Orissa High Court today rejected the board’s writ petition against order for re-evaluation of answer sheets of 159 Class-XII students who had moved the court alleging discrepancies in the results.

The next hearing on the writ petition will take place on June 23.

The incident comes a day after the High Court issued show cause notice to board’s Joint Secretary (Academics), Manoj Kumar Srivastav over his remarks in connection with the court’s order for re-evaluation of answer sheets of some aggrieved students.

The High Court has directed the official to reply by July 3 as to why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for his statement in media.

Notably, results of many students in Bhubaneswar zone of the board were kept withheld. Similarly, many students had complained of faulty evaluation leading to their poor marks.
