Retired Professor fires at youth after tiff over vehicle parking in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: An altercation over vehicle parking turned ugly when a retired Professor fired at a young businessman injuring him critically today evening in Balasore town.

The retired Professor, Laxman Behera fired a bullet at the young businessman, Anand Singh at the parking area of Sanjay Heights apartment located near Gadagadia Chhak following an argument. Both the attacker and the victim have been staying at the apartment.

A resident of the apartment said Behera and Singh used to frequently engage in verbal duel over vehicle parking. Today as well, they had an argument in the morning.

At around 5 PM, the locals hear commotion and then a gunshot. They rushed to the spot where Singh was found in a pool of blood. Immediately he was admitted to the Balasore District Headquarter Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, Singh was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, the police detained the retired professor and seized a licenced gun and five live bullets.

A person knowing the retired Professor informed Behera has been imparting teaching at Kuntala Kumar Sabat College after his retirement.
