The Odisha government today decided to raise the retirement age limit of its employees from 58 years to 60 years.
A decision to this effect was taken at the State Cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here this evening.
The decision of the state government would benefit about five lakh employees.
It may be recalled that the state government on June 23 had announced a raise in the retirement age limit of doctors working in government hospitals in the state to 62 years as against the current retirement age limit of 60 years.
The announcement was made in the Odisha Assembly by Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak.
The state government had earlier raised the retirement age of doctors in the three government run medical colleges in the state to 62.
