Returnees from 80 countries registered on Odisha govt’s COVID-19 portal

Bhubaneswar: A total of 2,131 persons returned from 80 countries have registered themselves on the Odisha government’s COVID-19 portal, https://covid19.odisha.gov.in/ so far.

During a press briefing of Odisha government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi, it was revealed that as many as 20% persons returned from UAE, 9% from the US, 5% from Saudi Arabia, 4% from the UK and Malaysia and 1% each from Italy, Korea and France. Worth mentioning, no resident from Odisha has returned from China from where the COVID-19 pandemic started.

Of the total 2,131 persons registered, Khordha district tops the chart with 37% followed by Cuttack, Ganjam, Kendrapara and Balasore. Out of 30 districts in the State suspected Coronavirus cases have been reported from 29 districts except Malkangiri. In the past 24 hours, 104 helpline numbers received calls from 5,202 persons, he informed.

Subroto said samples of 47 persons of Odisha with suspected symptoms of Coronavirus were sent for tests. Of them 46 were found to be negative while one person has been tested positive and has been kept under observation. He added the Coronavirus positive case is taking normal diet and recovering.

Yesterday, 12 samples were sent for tests and found to be negative for COVID-19. Subroto further said 540 isolation beds have been kept ready at district hospital and medical colleges and more such beds will be added in coming days.

Six blood and swab samples were sent for tests today, said sources.
