Revenue collection up by 28% in Odisha

Revenue collection in Odisha has increased to 28 percent (Rs 10,935 crore) till August this year.

Odisha Govt LogoThis was revealed in a departmental meeting presided over by chief secretary GC Pati at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday.

There has been an increase in tax revenue of 33 percent and non-tax revenue of 13 per cent. The revenue collected from own tax sources for 2015-16 fiscal is Rs 8691 crore which is 32.54 percent more as compared to last year while the non-tax revenue collection is Rs 2334 crore with a growth of 13 percent during the 2015-16 fiscal.

Present at the meeting, additional chief secretary, Finance, R Balakrishnan informed that there is a 65 percent increase in the State Plan expenditure as compared to previous year.

Praising the departments for increase in revenue collection, the chief secretary asked the principal secretaries and secretaries to plug loopholes and increase supervision in the ground level for additional revenue collection.

He also asked them to increase inter-departmental coordination for better implementation of important programmes like smart city, housing, urban development, business among others.

Development commissioner UN Behera and principal secretaries and secretaries were present at the meeting.
