Revenue inspector under Vigilance scanner for accepting bribe in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Tangarpali: A team of Vigilance sleuths today caught a woman revenue inspector (RI) red-handed, while she was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The RI has been identified as Lily Choudhuri who is presently working in Tasaladihi under Tangarpali tehsil limits of Sundargarh district.

According to an official source, the RI accepted a bribe to furnish a favourable report which was required to convert the land type from farmland to homestead land. The land owner informed it to the anti-corruption agency. Swinging into action, the sleuths laid a trap and caught the RI.

Vigilance officials also seized the entire bribe money from the possession of Choudhuri.

Following this, simultaneous searches were carried out at two different locations associated with the RI in the Sundargarh district, which were underway till the time when this report was filed.

A case was registered with Rourkela Vigilance PS in this connection and a probe was initiated.
