Led by state Women Congress President Sasmita Behera, the activists burnt the effigy of the Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena for his alleged involvement in a sex tape and its connection in the alleged murder of Rishi.

Further, they demanded the resignation and arrest of Jena.

“It has been over 15 days since the allegations were levelled. It appears there is no law and order in the state. The Chief Minister has become a silent spectator in this issue. That is the reason we have taken to the streets demanding a CBI probe,” said Behera.

Meanwhile, even though Congress earlier in the day made an announced to gharao all 314 block headquarters of the state tomorrow to press for a CBI probe, it later backtracked citing the election code of conduct in force for the panchayat polls.

A late evening press release by the party, however, suggested that the leaders will meet and present memorandums to respective BDOs addressed to the Governor demanding CBI probe to Rishi murder and seeking resignation of Mayor. The memorandum will also demand safety, security and due dignity for women.
