Bhubaneswar: Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Director of Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar won the Odisha Bigyan Academy's Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award for the year 2018.

The award is given by the Science & Technology Department of the Odisha Government for outstanding research contribution. The prize comprises Rs one lakh, citation, certificate, shawl and silver medallion.

Led by Pati, the RMRC played a major role in COVID-19 testing in the state. Comorbidity and multimorbidity, health promotion, and non-communicable diseases are some of the areas of Pati's research.
