Cuttack: The temporary road connecting Dhabaleswar shrine in Athagarh area of Odisha's Cuttack district has been washed away.

The incident took place reportedly due to inflow of significant amount of water in the Mahanadi river.

While devotees were using the road to reach the Dhabaleswar temple, its damage has left the shrine inaccessible for them.

On the other hand, Athagarh sub-collector in-charge said the work for a concrete bridge has been finished while the work on approach road was underway. It will be completed within the next 2-3 days, following which devotees can use the bridge to reach the shrine.

Earlier in November last year, the suspension bridge connecting the temple was closed for public usage due to repairing work after detection of cracks by an expert team.

The shrine, located on an island of Mahanadi river, draws many devotees. They used to reach the temple either by boats or through the suspension bridge, which was constructed in 2006.
