Rocket launcher, hand grenades recovered from Maoist dump in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Bhubaneswar: The BSF troops busted a Maoist dump in Bejangiwada Reserve Forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district and recovered arms and ammunitions, including a country made rocket launcher and several improvised hand grenades today.

On the basis of specific information, the BSF troops carried out an operation at Bejangiwada Reserve Forest in Malkangiri. The troops located a Maoist dump in the forest under Kalimela police limits, said a release issued by the BSF 142 Battalion.

A country made rocket launcher, 15 improvised hand grenades, two mortar bombs, one 303 rifle, three guns, 29 gelatin sticks, 30 electric detonators, five packets of aluminum nitrate, live ammunitions, IED making materials and other items were recovered from the dump, added the release.

“The Maoists had a strong presence in Kalimela area in the past. They had stored huge quantities of arms and ammunitions in the locality. Their motive was to use these arms and ammunitions against the security forces,” said the release.
