Ropeway facility at Nandankanan to restart for visitors from November 18

Bhubaneswar: A newly constructed aerial ropeway ride facility, located in Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, will be inaugurated tomorrow. However, the facility will be opened for visitors from November 18, an official source informed today.

Worth mentioning, an agreement was previously signed and executed with M/s Damodar Ropeways & Infra Limited of Kolkata in this regard at Nandankanan, more than a year and a half ago.

Provisions have been made for at least 3,000 visitors to take a ride on the ropeway in a day.

The ropeway will enable riders to travel to and fro the Botanical Garden and Nandankanan Zoo.

The State government had accorded permission to the firm for construction at an investment of around Rs 13 crore and the project was started in public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) is a 437-hectare (1,080-acre) zoo and botanical garden in Odisha. Established in 1960, it was opened to the public in 1979 and became the first zoo in India to join the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) in 2009.
